Camera Ricoh GR III release date

The latest compact with a fixed focus and an APS-C sensor will be on store shelves soon, and now you can order it in advance.

Equipped with a 24-megapixel APS-C sensor, the compact Ricoh GR III is probably the best choice for journalists, street photographers, or anyone looking for a pocket-sized, unobtrusive camera that also offers high image quality and advanced ergonomics.

The latter model introduces a number of changes to the image processing system. As usual, it also offers a number of interesting and practical additional features. You can read more about this in our first impressions.

The long-awaited model in the popular series of fast and compact cameras, the Ricoh GR III continues the legacy of the portable line, offering impressive image quality, fast response and great mobility. Featuring a redesigned set of image processing features, the GR III incorporates the APS-C CMOS 24-megapixel matrix and the GR Engine 6 for smooth tone, rich color and high sensitivity of ISO 100-102400, as well as the possibility of obtaining a high resolution 14 bit DNG photo or Full HD video.

An addition to the design of the sensor is an updated 28 mm equivalent lens with a bright f / 2.8 design, suitable for everyday shooting with a wide angle. In addition, for the first time for GR, a 3-axis jitter reduction system is used. It compensates for camera shake, helping to take clearer shots from hands when working with longer exposures. The Shake Reduction System has been optimized for use with an integrated 28mm lens. In addition, the SR unit also offers the ability to reduce moire and remove dust.

Physically, the GR III looks familiar compact, but includes a redesigned control scheme that provides a wider and more comfortable grip while maintaining easy access to physical controls.

The 1.037 m 3.0-inch LCD display is used for image composition, playback and menu navigation, and its touch-screen design provides intuitive control along with Touch AF capabilities. In addition, the ADJ lever, the FN button, and Touch AF operations can be programmed to handle certain assignable functions for more personalized control.

Speed time has been reduced to 0.8 seconds, and hybrid autofocus performance has been increased for smoother operation.

Integrated Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi provide wireless connectivity between the camera and the mobile device and allow you to embed location information into your files, as well as transfer files to your mobile device, even when the camera is turned off.

The DB-110 lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides approximately 200 shots per charge.

The USB Type-C port is used to transfer files or recharge the battery.

In addition to shooting, the GR III can also record Full HD 1080 video at 60p, 30p and 24p frame rates.

The optical design includes six elements in four groups, including two aspherical elements that help reduce spherical aberration and distortion for sharpening and accurate rendering. Two focusing modes are suitable for working with general objects, with values from 3.9″ to infinity, while a special macro setting is suitable for working with close-up objects in the 2.4-4.7” range.

An internal filter with two effective stops (ND 0.6) is also available either to slow the shutter speed or to allow operation with a wider aperture setting, and the lens has a nine-bladed diaphragm, which contributes to high-quality bokeh.

Preliminary sales will be held until March 31 inclusive

The camera will appear on store shelves in April, and the manufacturer has already begun its preliminary sales. Price in partner stores $ 899
